WIPO Symposium on Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) (September 18–19)
WIPO is organizing first-ever Symposium on SEPs. This two-day high-level event brings together every part of the global SEP landscape – judges, policymakers, standardization experts, innovators, litigators, economists, and patent specialists.
The Symposium aims to explore the dynamics of SEPs through open dialogue and deep dives into the policies, legal frameworks, and economic principles that shape them.
Topics include:
- Dealmaking, FRAND determination, litigation, and ADR
- SEPs in various technology sectors and global markets
- Global policy and regulatory landscape
- SME access, transparency tools and data science initiatives
The event is free of charge and open to all upon registration. The working language will be English, with simultaneous interpretation in French and Spanish.
The Symposium is held in September 18 – 19, 2025, at 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., at WIPO Headquarters. It is possible to attend in person or the plenary sessions will be streamed live via webcast.
